This programme bundles together SSI Dive Guide and SSI Science of Diving. Ideal for those looking for there Dive Guide course to the first step to instructor.
On completion of the Dive Guide and the Science of Diving Speciality, a recognition qualification of SSI Divemaster can be obtained.

 

Professional Dive Guides can work for SSI Dive Centers, guiding dives in a variety of environments and conditions. You will earn the SSI Dive Guide certification after completing this program.

Congratulations on your decision to become an SSI Dive Guide! Your mission is to inspire and influence other divers, and to increase your own knowledge, skills and experience by planning and leading dives.

There is a strong demand in the recreational scuba industry for passionate individuals who can share their love of the sport and the underwater world with others.

The Dive Guide program trains you to be a well-prepared, versatile and marketable dive professional, and is the first step on the path to becoming an SSI Open Water Instructor. This program is intended to be a fun and challenging learning experience.

It presents ideal-case scenarios designed to train you to make intelligent, informed decisions. You are expected to ask questions and to take an active role in the training process. Your basic dive skills and knowledge will be refined and tested as you develop into a capable and professional dive leader.

Terminology To simplify terminology, the term “Dive Guide” refers to both Professional Dive Guides and Recreational Dive Guides (Dive Guides who do not work professionally with an SSI Dive Center). The term “dive center” refers to any active status SSI Dive Center, Dive Resort, Dive Boat or Dive School.

Program Details:

  • Minimum Age: 15 / 18 if active status
  • Certification Prerequisites: Advanced Adventurer,
    Diver Stress & Rescue certification,
    40 logged Dives,
    certification or equivalent experience: Navigation, Night & Limited Visibility, Deep Diving.
  • Academic Sessions: Varies
  • Pool/Confined Water Sessions: Varies
  • Open Water Dives: 10 or at least 50 total
  • Maximum Training Depth: 40 meters / 130 feet
  • Suggested Duration: 35 – 45 hours
